Randall W. Sayers - Partner
Clients with issues involving trusts and estates, probate, trust and estate taxation, or business law can be confident they are working with a true expert in HDBOB partner Randy Sayers. With more than 25 years of practice in these areas and another 10 teaching law school courses about them, plus an advanced legal degree in taxation, Randy has a special talent for explaining complex estate planning issues in easy-to-understand terms.
Prior to joining HDBOB, Randy was Director, Corporations Division, for the State of Minnesota (1978-81) and Liaison Representative on the Minnesota Advisory Task Force on Corporation Law (1979-81). He is a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, J.D., cum laude and LLM, Taxation, magna cum laude. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and the U.S. District Court-District of Minnesota. He has a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from Indiana University. He is a member of the Ramsey County and Minnesota State Bar Associations and was chair of the Elder Law section of the Minnesota State Bar Association (1999-2000). He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national association of more than 2,600 lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of trust and estate law.
Randy first considered teaching as a career. He is a frequent speaker on estate and trust topics for Minnesota Continuing Legal Education, and he has been on the adjunct faculty at the William Mitchell College of Law (1993-98 and 2001-02), as well as at Hamline University College of Law (2004-2009).
